NASCAR CUP SERIES DRIVER RYAN BLANEY TO SERVE AS NASCAR YOUTH
SERIES HONORARY GRAND MARSHAL FOR POCONO DIRT NATIONAL
SPEEDWAY, IN (July 15, 2023)
Ryan Blaney, driver of the No. 12 Team Penske Ford Mustang, has been named the Honorary Grand Marshal for the NASCAR Youth Series’ dirt national race at Pocono Quarter Midget Raceway hosted by the Lehigh Valley Quarter Midget Club in Pocono, Pa., on July 21-23.
Blaney, a third generation driver and son of former NASCAR Cup Series driver Dave Blaney and grandson of modified dirt track legend Lou Blaney, is in his eighth full- time season of driving in NASCAR’s Cup Series.
He has earned eight NASCAR Cup Series wins, his most recent win being in the series’ longest race, the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. However his first NCS win occurred at the track dubbed the Tricky Triangle, Pocono Raceway in 2017.
Which is ironic considering Blaney took his first ever laps in a quarter midget at the age of nine at the Pocono Quarter Midget Raceway. This 1/14th of a mile-clay track is located outside turn three of Pocono Raceway.
In 2009, he won the Eastern Grand Nationals in quarter midgets. Since then, Blaney has amassed wins in almost everything he’s driven. As a professional, he’s collected seven career wins in N
NASCAR’s Xfinity Series and four in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
He joins a long and impressive list of NASCAR Youth Series Honorary Grand Marshals. Iconic and legendary drivers like Mario Andretti, Jeff Gordon, Joey Logano, Josef Newgarden, Kyle Busch, Arie Luyendyk, James Hinchcliffe, Chase Elliott and Alexander Rossi.
With almost 60 NYS-sanctioned clubs located all across the country, thousands
of kids ages five and up, along with their families, participate in quarter-midget racing.
Some notable NASCAR graduates of quarter midget racing include Jeff Gordon, Joey
Logano, Ryan Newman, Alex Bowman, Ryan Blaney, Justin Allgaier, Harrison Burton,
Justin Haley, Carson Hocevar, Daniel Dye and Todd Gilliland. For more information, visit
